Karinas first day back at school

Karina is a 1st grader! The return to school was a lot less exciting for everyone this year, not least of which was due to the ridiculous 3 month summer vacation they have in the States, and the fact that the classes were all mixed around so most of Karinas old friends from last year are no longer in her class. I get the reasoning behind it (social skills, new friends etc), but I think its kinda dumb. Anyway - what do I know? Here she is, all ready for day number 1.

Shauns birthday bash

So this year was a big birthday for me and I was damned if I was gonna work or hang around the house! So my lovely wife took the hint and booked us a little break to sunny San Diego! Aside from it being a mega busy and packed 3 days, we had a great time. Weather was perfect, San Diego is awesome, and the kids had a blast. We went to Legoland and Sea World, didn't have time to fit in the world famous San Diego Zoo unfortunately. We also had a little wander around old town and the main downtown area which seems pretty happening - lots of restaurants and bars to choose from as well as good stores all in quite a compact little city. All in all a really great trip. I did manage to get a severe ear infection on the way back however, probably a mixture of the water from swimming in the pool and the pressure of the short return flight. A small price to pay for a fun way to spend a birthday.
