Another double-OT!
No pictures for this post I'm afraid! Last Saturday I decided to try to fit another Boston College football game (BC vs Brigham Young Cougars - aka BYU) into a very packed schedule. Despite arriving pretty late (after the start of the game) and ticketless, I managed to use my ticket-scalper radar to bag a face value ticket from the only seller around - and yes, you guessed it, once again I was in the mass of visiting fans section! Anyway this time I had a smattering of BC fans around me so it was pretty cool. Bizarely enough, it was yet
another double overtime vistory for Boston College... pretty amazing that should happen 2 weeks in a row. So - I'm now making a considered effort to go to every home game - NCAA College Football rules!!! Next trip: BC vs Maine Sept 30th - should be a blow out (and I'll go to the pub after!) :)

So after recovering from the game (although my throat was in a pretty rough state - now I know how it feels to smoke 40 a day!) we decided that as Sundays promised rain hadn't appeared, and in fact it was beautiful sunny but cool September day, we'd go in search of the famous New England orchards. We went to a lovely spot, a huge farm in Peabody, north of Boston and near the coast. As you can see, Karina had a great time, getting Daddy to help her climb up to get the top most apples from the trees! We brought back around 30lbs of apples, not including several pounds that were consumed on site of course. We also had an impromptu picnic (fresh, hot cider and cider doughnuts - yum!) , bought a pumpkin and some fresh veg, and Karina fed the sheep, hens and even the Llama. A really nice day all round.
Clemson Tigers at BC Eagles

Yeah man - its football season! So - the first Bostgon College home game was last week against Clemson from South Carolina and anyone who knows me well will know that this was simply too good to pass up on :) I braved the horrible trip along the green line on the Boston Metro (slooooow!), surrounded by rowdy Clemson fans, didnt drink a sip of beer all day, and had a hell of a good time :) BC won the game by one point in double ovetime and it was one of the most exciting games I've seen, certainly the most exciting live game. Shame the Miami Hurricanes won't be playing here this year :( Anyway the highlight for me was that my ticket (row 11, corner end zone) was embedded in the Clemson sections - in fact, after taking a good look around during the game we came to the conclusion that I was, in fact, the ONLY Boston fan in that endzone! Youch!!! Thankfully they took my "abuse" relatively well... not that they had much choice in the matter! A great day out indeed....
A rainy Sunday

So - the hurricane from Florida came by to say hello to Boston at the weekend so Sunday was pretty much washed out and we decided to take a drive into the city (yes - me - drive into the city - amazing huh?!). We figured that the New England Aquarium would be a good place to take Karina and didnt expect there to be too many people there on a nasty Sunday especially after the schools had started again but - how wrong we were! We waited around 40 minutes just to get a ticket, then it was as packaed as... well, as a packed thing! Anyway it was good fun and Karina enjoyed herself, despite being afraid of the "Yukky big fish". Here she is by the "beach tank" being absolutely fascinated by the crabs who kept coming to say hello to her :)
Go Sox!

Well, the Boston Red Sox baseball team have had a pretty bad run in recent weeks, slipping way behind and potentially not making the playoffs (and, of course, the critics are out in force in the Boston media!). With that in mind I decided it was well overdue for The Shaunster to make an appearance and spur the guys on. Of course, it had nothing to do with them playing the hated Canadian / Toronto Blue Jays! :) Anyway - myself and my friend Jamie picked up some pretty sweet front row balcony seats for the first game of teh series last Thursday, and saw a really good game... and Boston broke the curse too. See - I told you I was a good omen. Now I need to figure out how to do that for my next Dolphins trip :)
