4th July

HOT! Thats the best way to sum up our 4th July this year. We had a great day out, courtesy of George Lucas ;) Every year the Lucasfilm tradition is to hold a huge party / BBQ / family day at Skywalker Ranch (where George's offices are, along with a lot of the sound and art staff and development) so this year we definately wanted to go along. We met up with a bunch of our friends and secured a spot beside the swimming pool - fortunately we were advised to take beach umbrellas which was the best advice we were ever given as up there in the Marin hills it was 44 degrees (thats 111 F, or thereabouts!!!). There were BBQs everywhere - ribs, burgers, sausages, hot dogs, chicken, corn, cakes, and as many soft drinks and alcohol as you could drink. They organised games and events for both kids and adults, activities and competitions on the huge lake, and traditional games such as egg toss, horseshoes etc etc. They even set up a toy tent for the kids with face painting, ice cream, crafts and much more. Really, they pulled out all the stops and we are told thats a very standard 4th July at Lucas. A very nice day but seriously tiring. Afterwards we went back to our friends house so the kids could play some more and the adults could eat and drink as we'd held back on the alcohol due to needing to drive to the party. Here are a few pictures from the day...
