FIRE!!!!!!
Yes - fire! Its fire season in California. the Hollywood hills were burning, then lake Tahoe area caught hold, now San Rafael Hill, less than 1 highway exit from our house, went up. These were the scenes from the fire last night on my way home.You can see how close it is to a bunch of houses - 50 properties were evacuated but I don't think there was any damage... this morning everything was back to normal, but a lot of acres of forest were burnt. I guess that's part of living in a sunny, countryside climate really. The smoke in the sunset last night looked "beautiful", in a surreal, pretty messed up way.
Disclaimer / note to families: WE'RE OK! No, really, we are. We don't intend to BBQ in the forest any time soon. There's no earthquakes of late. We didn't even toast any marshmallows. And I am keeping my lightning wit and firey temper in check, just in case. Karina has her Mickey Mouse water bucket primed at the ready so - DON'T WORRY!!!!
