Now we're premenant!
Well well well... what a start to 2008! 2 or 3 weeks ago we recieved confirmation of our "penultimate green card stage" documentation... basically you need to get this accepted and processed and then the time for the final part, the actual card itself, starts. Currently its estimated to be 8-12 months from the reciept date of the previous documents. That was back in July last year when we were madly rushing around getting vaccinations and medicals and all manner of nice stuff! A great start to '08 we thought. So we were looking at getting our cards around summer this year if we were lucky. Guess what arrived 10 days later (a week ago)? Only our green cards! Even the lawyers were shocked at how quickly it went. The only down side was we did not get Karinas yet... they need "further information" which we are waiting to hear about... but I'm sure its nothing major... most likely vaccination reports. But, we're now premenant citizens and, of course, that means we're free of visas and work permits at last! PHEW!!!
